Sinking

Sinking

Copyright © Courtney Josephson

Feeling much like a sink with a shoddy stopper:
My time, my youth, my opportunities; they all slip away down the drain.
The slow trickle wasn’t easy to notice at first, but now, the water line has become all too apparent.

No one has found out how to properly stop the leak, but I hope I’ve still time
To live a little brighter,
To try more of what I haven’t,
And to dream farther than my pillow.

For what could be worse than feeling the last drops drip away and think, “I should have–!”
